CAMEROUN :: Cameroon:FFCI plan to strike in Bamenda
The letter of the national chairman of Frontline Fighters for Citizen’s Interest (FFCI), Mr MOWHA FRANKLIN to the Senior Divisional Officer, Mezam Division North- West Region, concerning a declaration of a Pacific Street Protest
Sir, We the partisans of FFCI unanimously condemn the recent massive arrest and transfer of Anglophone citizens in Bamenda on Thursday, the 8th of December, 2016.
In effect, Sir, we are a human rights organization based in Yaoundé and one of our paramount goals is to fight against all forms of injustice especially when it concerns minority groups like the Anglophones. Our findings have shown that most of those arrested were passersby and onlookers who had absolutely nothing to do with the Riot-Protest. For this reason, we are appealing to the Cameroon government to release all persons arrested in Bamenda on December 8 given that their arrest in itself constitute a total violation of human rights.
FFCI will start a pacific protest march as from the 19th of December 2016 and the aim is to ensure that all detainees are released.
We urge your high authority to use the forces of law and order to protect us on the days of the protest march. Sir, we count on your collaboration to successfully carry out this action and we pledge to honour our engagement of keeping it PACIFIC.
The President of FFCI; MOWHA FRANKLIN Copies to the following:
- The Governor of the North West Region
- The Regional President of the Cameroon Bar Council, Bamenda
- The President of the Teachers Trade Union
- The Presidents of the Bike Riders Union
- The Heads of affected families
