AFRIQUE DU SUD :: Advances in Cement and Concrete Technology in Africa (ACCTA) 2016: Submission deadline is 5th June 2015 :: SOUTH AFRICA
The 2nd International Conference on Advances in Cement and Concrete Technology in Africa (ACCTA),is to be held at Emperor’s Palace Johannesburg, South Africa in January 27th – 29th 2016. The abstract should have a maximum of 300 words and include full names and affiliations of the authors.The submission deadline is 5th June 2015.
The success of the first international conference ACCTA 2013, which took place in January 2013 at Emperor’s Palace, Johannesburg, promoted a high impact to the African architectural, civil (structural and material engineering) society. At the same time the conference was a link between researchers and engineers worldwide. Experts and renowned keynote speakers from more than 40 countries came together to share their knowledge in cement and concrete technology and to provide ideas for the betterment of the product in its performance and durability.
The success and the positive feedback from the scientific community encouraged to set up ACCTA as a permanent triennially conference. The conference is hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand, and technically supported by the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and testing as well as the University Zagreb.
Henceforth, the second international conference will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on dates 27th – 29th January 2016. As in the first ACCTA the conference will be accompanied by pre-conference courses and post-conference activities. There will be a special podium discussion on binder technologies as well as a special honouring session for the lifetime contribution of Prof. Mark Alexander to cement and concrete research.
The conference will offer:
» Pre-conference lectures by renowned speakers (25th – 26th January 2016)
» Special session to the honour of Prof. Mark Alexander
» Plenary panel discussions by experts dealing on
o Future binder concepts and technology
o African issues in concrete construction
ACCTA provides a platform to cross-link experts in the field of cement and concrete technology with key players from research institutions, industries, associations and policy-making bodies to establish business and research relations and opportunities in the African market for future collaborations. It provides a hub where young aspiring researchers can network with experienced scientists and researchers with the aim to establish a sustainable and economically efficient cement and concrete technology in Africa that impacts societies worldwide.
