On August 1st, 2015, from 10:30 to 1:00 pm at Harry S Truman College 1145 W Wilson Ave, Chicago IL 6064,The Cameroon Women Association Chicago will host a leadership development event titled “Inspiring Leadership”. The purpose of this event is to recognize and enhance women’s contributions to the economic development of communities on local, national, and transnational stages.

The Cameroonian Women Association of Chicago (CAMWAC) is a not-for-profit organization that thrives to empower women. Camwac activities and mission focuses on challenges women and children face in the world today. Camwac is dedicated to engage women as social and economic development actors in the fight against poverty, health, education and inequality.

At CAMWAC, we believe that engaging women as social and economic development actors can alter issues of poverty, health, education, inequality and professional growth. The theme of the event: “Inspiring Leadership” reflects CAMWAC’s main objective as we invest in the tremendous potential of empowering women to access and sustain leadership positions. We make it a priority to engage women as key stakeholders of economic development and social inclusion.

Our shared vision is that by empowering women, our community and the whole world will be able to solve most of its endemic problems and fully engage in the global economy. As women progress everyone in society benefits, including men, children and youth. What priorities do women leaders need to set in order for our community to strive? How can women support these efforts? Tapping into the limitless potential of women is not only the right thing to do, but also the most efficient way to combat inequality, poverty, and instability.

Workshop and panel discussion will be the focus of this event. We are calling Cameroonian women, men, and friends from other nations and cultural organizations throughout the Chicagoland area and the state of Illinois to join us. The principles guiding this initiative are based on the understanding that effective leadership is critical to advancing women’s rights. Such leadership relies on the ability of women to build consensus across all spheres of government and civil society so that a collective
