CAMEROUN :: Cameroon: Dangote Cement Shines at Nguon Festival 2018

Dangote Cement Cameroon participated at the 547thedition of the Nguon Festival, a cultural, and trade forum that held from December 2 to 9 in Foumban, under the theme “The Nguon, framework for cultural renewal and strengthening of living-together”.

The week-long event was organised by His Royal Majesty, the Sultan of the Bamoun, Ibrahim MbomboNjoya, under the high patronage of the Minister of Arts and Culture, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. As the official sponsor of the 547th of the Nguon, Dangote Cement Cameroon, made a huge impact in the history of trade fairs in Cameroon, with a much talked about stand that kept attracting visitors, making it a sort of touristic site for pictures and selfies in the Village festival. The stand was the DCC’s Corporate office, while the second stand close to the podium served as commercial stand. Sales and Marketing Director of DCC, Maurice Diekem in an interview told the press that the festival offered the company the opportunity to show its support for the Cameroonian culture and tradition, which goes beyond selling a quality cement product.

Dangote Cement’s presence was seen months back, when the casting for the Miss Nguon contest, a key activity in the festival, was organised in Douala and Foumban, but no one could imagine the team was preparing it big for the main event: Banners could be seen in Yaounde, Bafoussam, Foumbot, and Foumban, with the caption:”Dangote Cement, Offical Sponsor of Nguon 2018”. The company came to Foumban fully prepared. Apart two huge inflatable arches, an inflatable huge Dangote cementbag, there weredozens of Dangote branded high flying banners in the Nguon village and other places where activities held could be seen.

The event featuredseries of activities like carnival, exhibition, sports, conferences, concerts, and many more.

During a brief visit to the stand, His Majesty, the Sultan of the Bamoun, Ibrahim MbomboNjoya commended Dangote Cement Cameroon for its presence in the village festival and huge support for the success of the event. “We are looking forward to having you in grant style again for the next edition” His Majesty said. Arts and Culture Minister, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, who was welcomed by Country Manager, Dangote Cement Cameroon, Engr. Baba Abdullahiat the Dangote stand during the official ceremony of the Nguon festival, congratulated the cement maker for its support for cultural matters.“Support for culture and tradition is in line with our CSR policy,” noted Public Relations Manager, Chief Ness Essombey.

Both the corporate and the commercial stands registered numerous visitors throughout the festival, who came to ask questions on the process of cement making, why they should choose Dangote 3 X cement, and information on soon to be officially launched promo tagged “Smiling Times” and also to play games like shooting arrows or puzzle, branded Dangote, which had t-shirts, pens and key holders as rewards.
