PAYS-BAS :: Breaking News: Fire Breaks Out At the Cameroon Embassy in the Netherlands
Cameroon Embassy. The Cameroon Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Her Excellency Ambassador (Mrs.) Odette Melono hereby informs the Cameroonian community in the Netherlands and Luxembourg, as well as the general public as follows:
On Saturday 31th of March 2018, an accidental fire broke out within the Embassy building in The Hague at about 4:30 am causing very extensive damage to the building as well as to property and equipment within the Embassy.
Thanks to the bravery and timely intervention of the Netherlands Fire services and the Police, the fire was contained in a very timely manner. The ensuing results from their investigation and determination now confirm that the source of the fire which started from the basement was purely accidental.
It is important to mention that there were no casualties. When the fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning, thankfully there was no one within the Embassy premises. All Embassy staff members are therefore hereby declared safe and sound.
Although the fire damage is very extensive, H.E Ambassador Melono wishes to assure the Cameroonian community that she will do her utmost to ensure that both the Embassy and the Consular Services resume as speedily as possible, to avoid any interruptions to services to the public. This will entail a speedy repair of damages and the replacement of Embassy property and equipment to enable a fast resumption of full services.
Updates on further developments and official announcements will be frequently published on the Embassy Website at www.cameroon-embassy.nl, to ensure that the public is kept abreast of any developments.
Despite the unfortunate and sad incident, Ambassador Melono has complete confidence in the ability of her staff to handle this very challenging situation effectively in relations to the required services the Embassy provides to the public.
She hereby draws the attention of the public to the challenges that lie ahead for her and her staff and therefore appeals for patience and understanding.
Signed:H.E Ambassador (Mrs) Odette Melono
(Head of Mission to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg)
