Cameroun - FFCI DECLARATION ON HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES IN THE ANGLOPHONE REGIONS OF CAMEROON.

FFCI Frontline Fighters for Citizen’s Interest, has deployed staff in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon to help register and assist all the displaced who have sought refuge in the neighboring villages and towns in the two regions and who are in serious need of food, water, shelter, medical and sanitation assistance.

The registration, which is carried out by a team spearheaded by FFCI secretary general, in coordination with the FFCI permanent secretariat in Yaoundé Cameroon, aims to identify those most in need of immediate humanitarian assistance, including vulnerable and traumatized women and children who have escaped from the following localities;

North West Region:

1-      Batibo

2-      Belo

3-      Pinying

4-      Widikum. 

In the South West Region:

1-      Banga-Bakundu

2-      Mbalangi

3-      Ediki

4-      Ekombe

5-      Kombone-Bakundu

6-      Kwakwa-Bakundu

8-      Foe-Bakundu

9-      Mabonji-Bakundu

10-  Boa-Bakundu

11-  Bobanda

12-  Bombele

13-  Kumukumu

14-  Dienyi

15-  Bangele

16-  Bokosso

17-  Munyenge-Peace

18-  Bai-Kuke

19-  Kuke-Mbomo

20-  Mator-Ediki

21-  Kembong

22-  Ottu

23-  Agborkem

24-  Satum

25-  Kendem

26-  Mile 22 in the Manyu Division

27-  Tinto

28-  Ecombe in the Ndian Division

Many have sustained bullet and machete wounds from attacks.

FFCI has also received calls for help from some 663 families in the North West and South West Regions who have found refuge far from their residences and wish to be repatriated.  FFCI remains unable to evacuate them because of on-going fighting in the North West and South West Regions.

We urge warring parties in the North West and South West Region of Cameroon not to target civilians and Human Rights activists and to ensure their protection and safety. We exhort them to give humanitarians full access to the population and allow the safe evacuation of all persons in danger who wish to return home from the forest.

In an effort to reduce overcrowding in the forest, FFCI is working with the local authorities and humanitarian partners to identify new safe sites for the displaced. Relocation to those sites would reduce the health risks linked to current overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, which has lead to an outbreak of diarrhea diseases and skin infections among the displaced.
