La conférence de presse entre le président français, Emmanuel Macron, et le président camerounais, Paul Biya au Palais d'Etoudi, était quelque chose dont même Frantz Kafka n'aurait pas pu rêver. Nous avons vu un vieil homme malentendant qui n'a jamais entendu parler d'appareils auditifs et maintenant manifestement handicapé pour diriger un pays.

Ceci est particulièrement sensible pour le Nnôm Ngui en raison des « obsessions » du locataire du palais d'Etoudi qui a cultivé un culte de l'immortalité obscène et de la déification permanente de l'image éternellement dynamique du Nnôm Ngui.

Pourtant, la question de savoir si M. Biya cache un problème d'audition a soulevé la préoccupation plus sérieuse de savoir ce que le public a le droit de savoir sur la santé de ses dirigeants politiques.

Au CL2P / ICL2P, cependant, nous sommes très conscients que la décomposition physique du Nnôm Ngui se produit parallèlement aux structures institutionnelles qui tombent littéralement en ruine au Cameroun, puis sous des liens sociaux eux-mêmes en décomposition dans une proportion apocalyptique dans le pays.

Nous prenons ces ruines au sérieux aux moment où ces structures sociales et les institutions s'effondrent et que nous sommes terrifiés et étouffés par les débris qui pleuvent sur nous.

C'est le plus effrayant parce que cet effondrement révèle comment le pouvoir du Nnôm Ngui qui se dissipe à grande vitesse a été construit, non pas sur des valeurs communes fondamentales, mais sur la violence, le pouvoir brut et l'impunité totale.

Ainsi, nous vivons dans un interrègne où les anciennes manières ne sont pas encore mortes et les nouvelles sont encore à naître. Il est temps que les gens qui aiment ce pays prennent leurs responsabilités avant qu'il ne soit trop tard et que le Nnôm Ngui nous entraîne tous avec lui dans le néant et dans l'oubli éternel.

The press conference between French president, Emmanuel Macron, and Cameroonian president, Paul Biya at the Etoudi Palace, was something that even Frantz Kafka would not have dreamed of. We saw an auditorily challenged old man who has never heard of hearing aid and now manifestly unsuited to run a country.

This is particularly sensitive for the Nnom Ngui because of what it called one of the ''obsessions'' of the Etoudi Palace which is a cult of obscene immortality and the cultivation of the Nnom Ngui’s astonishing eternally dynamic image.

Still, the issue of whether Mr. Biya is hiding a hearing problem raised the more serious matter of what is the public's right to know about the health of its political leaders.

At the CL2P/ ICL2P, however, we are very aware that the Nnom Ngui’s physical decay is happening alongside crumbling structures and decaying social bonds of apocalyptic proportion in the country.

We take these ruins seriously as social structures and institutions fall apart and we are terrified and suffocated by the debris raining down upon us.

This is the scariest because this very collapse reveals how the Nnom Ngui’s dissipating power was constructed upon, not foundational common values, but violence, raw power and impunity.

Thus, we live in an interregnum where the old ways are not yet dead and the new are yet to be born. It is time for people who like that country to take their responsibilities before it is too late and the Nnom Ngui takes all of us with him into void and into oblivion.
